Week Six

Our first task this week was to go away and sketch the following things; someone yawning: someone eating, someone walking and something falling and bouncing:

Week Five

For the first exercise I had to insert the missing parts into the image:

For the follow through and overlapping task we had to get into groups of two and again one of us would act something out and the other would sketch it. I got the other person to act out throwing a dart and bowling a ball. I decided to just sketch the arm and hand instead of the whole body just so what I am intending to sketch is a little clearer:

We then had to go off and find some examples of secondary action and sketch them, I drew a guy who was on the laptop and as he was working he kept pushing his glasses up and a girl on the phone who kept twirling her hair and wafting her hand:

Then with the 3ds max rig provided we had to add in secondary animation to a man reading a book, tapping his fingers or shaking his leg for example:

Week Four

I had to use istop motion for the first task so I had do do a simple task to get used to the program. I just had to take pictures of my self so it appeared I was moving across the screen:

Then I went on to animate a coin going across the table at different speeds, the first one is the coin moving roughly 1cm at a time:

Here it is taking 24 frames (1second):

Here it is on twos (twice as far with two images of the same frame)

At varied speeds doubling the distance each movement:

Slow in slow out sketches:

I then had to pair up with somebody and draw the actions they were acting out to see the anticipation and follow through. Firstly it was throwing a ball under arm:

Then over arm which needed to have more energy in it as the ball was being thrown a lot further:

Then we had to experiment with anticipation, again using istop motion but this time I had to be throwing a ball and move the appropriate amount for each frame:

Week Three

For the pose to pose section of this week's task we were using Apple Motion. I had to pretty much keyframe still images to give the appearance of movement:

For the straight ahead section I had to draw a box at a key frame at one pose in the box's cycle and one more  a little further in the cycle and then in a different colour insert the inbetweens:

I had to then pair up with another person in my group and take turns waving at each other and drawing the key frames. Then on our own we filled in the inbetweens with a different coloured pencil depicting the timing of the wave:

Week Two

I had to look around the room to find arcs, both force based and rotational:

Opening the first pendulum swing in the downloadable files I had to draw what I saw and comment on it :

I then drew another pendulum in to correct the swing in a different colour:

Then using the second pendulum swing file I sketched out five boxes and put in the swing and sketched the path:

After downloading and watching the arc file in 3ds max i sketched out the path the ball takes and made some comments. I then changed the points in the balls path and made it look smoother and again sketched out the results:

Here is how the ball looked initially:

After the changes I have made it still doesn't look perfect but it is defiantly an improvement:

I then looked at how a ball would squash and stretch in the bounce. I experimented with different objects and weights, for example a heavier ball wouldn't squash or stretch as much as a lighter ball would.

I also looked at how a person squashes and stretches:

Week One

Firstly I had to draw a an everyday object, spending no more than two minutes doing the drawing. I chose to do a cup:

Then I had to go on to do drawings to represent the mood of the thing I'm drawing, an angry fist for example:

The next task was to draw without looking at the paper at all, just a complete observation drawing:

I then had to do solid drawing. I had to get a model to pose and sketch them in thirty seconds:

For the staging I had to get somebody to pose doing a large action and draw them in a front view a side view and a three quarter view. For the first set I got the model to be kicking a ball:

For the second i got the model to pose as if he was throwing a ball, like a baseball:
